Episode 75: Disney Television and Movies

It may come as a surprise to some of you that Beyond the Berm is back only two weeks after our previous episode, but here we are again with Episode 75!

To start off, Matt comes clean with the revelation that he has been watching the Disney Channel at night sometimes. That may come as a surprise to some our regular listeners as well. We are just full of surprises, as it turns out. We talk about some of the shows that are good, some of the shows that are otherwise, and try to make some guesses about what direction the Disney Channel is taking for the future.

Oops, wrong logo. But this one is much better than the newer one, anyway.

After Steve asks the somewhat rhetorical question of whether Disney may be looking at any major acquisitions in the future, we discuss some of the different animation studios out there, wondering what it would have been like if Disney had not bought Pixar, or perhaps if Disney had bought Dreamworks Animation a few years ago.

Awards season is here, and we watch those about as much as we watch the Disney Channel these days. But that does lead to a discussion of Zootopia vs. Moana, since they are going up against each other for different awards. Zootopia already has one under its belt, so who might win the next one? Hmmm.

Also, remake season is here. But instead of just being a short season of the year, this season has been going on for a while, and it looks to continue far into the future. What are our pre-release thoughts about the Beauty and the Beast remake? And what about some of the other, remakes, reboots, and sequels? Listen in to find out.

All of this and more in Episode 75 of Beyond the Berm!

Beyond the Berm returns with Episode 22! Join us as we cover a wide variety of topics, most of them Disney related.

For starters, Matt brings up a couple of interesting news items. First up is the fact that Disney and the Weinsteins are making a movie together based on the Artemis Fowl book series. And Steve would like to apologize now for mentioning Bob Weinstein when he meant Harvey Weinstein. Just in case either of them happens to be listening.

Next, Matt mentions the news item that Bob Iger’s contract as Disney’s CEO has been extended. We give our views on that situation as well.

Steve tells about all the time he has spent lately watching the Disney Channel, and he includes a review of the latest Disney Channel Original Movie, Teen Beach Movie. Did he like it? Did you like it? Let us know!

We discuss a bit the upcoming D23 Expo, which neither of us plans to attend, and we talk just a bit about the upcoming movie Planes. And then we wrap things up discussing some recent Disney park visits.
